Being rich is not just about money. It’s about what will bring meaning and purpose into our lives. In our 20s, we can be narrow-minded about just making money. However, this won’t necessarily make us happy. So, in this blog post, I’ll go over how to be rich in your 20s. Check out my storefront for more resources!

Read One Book a Month
Reading one book a month will give you the skills and knowledge you need to get ahead of your peers. If you’re looking into how to be rich in your 20s, knowledge is priceless. Reading one book per month isn’t difficult and will pay dividends in the long run. Read a few minutes before sleeping each night or whenever you are at the airport. That’s all it takes.
Don’t Buy Items that are On Sale
One of the biggest ways money flies out of our pockets is by buying things we do not need. “On Sale” items are a marketing tactic that makes you want to purchase an item because you are getting a good deal. Buy it if you need it, but learning to resist “a good deal” is a much-needed lesson if you are learning how to be rich in your 20s. Reduce the clutter around you and save your wallet by not caving into items you don’t need.

Cook Meals at Home
If you want to learn how to be rich in your 20s, you must learn how to make delicious, nutritious meals at home. Health is one of the most priceless items in this world and nutrition plays a big role in that. By eating out less and cooking meals at home you are valuing your health. In addition, the act of cooking can be stress-releasing and a fun hobby to take on. Try cooking more meals at home, even simple ones, and you’ll quickly realize the value.
Create Lasting Friendships
Your support system is invaluable. If you talk to any senior citizen, they will mention how friends and family are key to a happy life. We get so focused on our career in our 20s, that we forget to nourish the relationships around us. This leads to us feeling lonely and unhappy. By the time you realize it, you’ll have earned enough money for the rest of your life but have no one to share it with. Learning how to be rich in your 20s means making meaningful and lasting relationships. Nurture the relationships you have and continue to deepen the bonds. Seek out new friends as well. These friendships are what make earning money worth it.

Live Like You Earn 30% Less
This may be counterintuitive, but living like you earn less helps accomplish two things. First, you save money to put into retirement accounts or skill-building. Second, you learn the value of the items you buy which helps you understand what is worth it. Living like I earn less has taught me not to fall for social media trends or buy something I already have. Instead, I rather spend money on a ticket to a new country than a $300 bag.
If you want to learn how to be rich in your 20s, be intentional about your purchasing decisions and ask yourself if the item is worth it. 9 out of 10 times, it’s not. This habit helps you avoid lifestyle creep and put your money towards experiences that are worth it.

If you want to know how to be rich in your 20s, then you need to get in the habit of moving your body. We are in our peak physical health right now so exercise can take a back burner. However, maintaining our peak physical health in our 20s means we can avoid joint pain in our 50s. Prioritizing movement in our 20s helps us avoid medical bills in the future and also keeps up with our quality of life as we get older. After all, I still want to play tennis when I am 60.
Reduce the Clutter
Living with less can help you keep your mind clear and stress-free. By reducing clutter, you create space for your mind to think. Learning how to be rich in your 20s means taking on the habit of keeping your environment clean and organized. You’ll notice you are often happier and less irritated when the space around you is clean. Reducing the clutter means getting rid of duplicate items, buying less, and keeping items in their place.
