Finding moisturizers that work on oily skin can be hard. You don’t want anything too greasy but it needs to hydrate enough to support your skin barrier. Not moisturizing your oily skin properly makes the oil production worse. So, in this post, I’ll walk you through some great oily skin moisturizers that I’ve tested as a brown girl.
I’ve listed these from the most lightweight oily skin moisturizers to the thickest oily skin moisturizers. Checkout my storefront for more resources as well!

Purito Gel Cream
If it is the peak of summer and you have extremely greasy skin, you’ll find this Purito gel cream to be a favorite oily skin moisturizer. Often, oily skin is dehydrated and a lightweight, water-based lotion, can help balance things out. The Purito gel cream is an extremely lightweight, clear moisturizer that gives your skin a drink of water.
This oily skin moisturizer has nice calming properties, but won’t provide much moisture to your skin, only a boost of hydration. On the positive, your skin will not appear greasy with this. If I was back in high school, this would have been the perfect oily skin moisturizer for me.

Naturium Niacinamide Gel Cream
The Naturium gel cream is a slightly thicker version of the Purito moisturizer above. This oily skin moisturizer is still incredibly lightweight with a gel consistency but provides a touch of moisture in addition to hydration.
Niacinamide is a great ingredient to reduce oil production and redness of the skin. After application, this provides a velvety soft hydration to the skin, without any greasiness. This is a great moisturizer if you still have oily skin but need something more than just a water cream.

Ranavat Gel Cream
The Ranavat gel cream is a great in-between oily skin moisturizer. This is the perfect middle in the spectrum of thinnest to thickest moisturizers. While still a gel consistency, this oily skin moisturizer is more hydrating than the previous ones mentioned. While this one is currently not available, hopefully, it will be soon.
This cream moisturizes the skin well while reducing the appearance of pores and giving a healthy, satin matte finish. I love this moisturizer in the summer months, especially when using harsher ingredients like retinol.

Embryolisse Lait Creme Sensitive
This moisturizer has been a viral product for some time now. This oily skin moisturizer has a thicker cream consistency but absorbs quickly into the skin. While this oily skin moisturizer will leave your skin with a slight shine, it is from hydration rather than any oil-based ingredients.
The sensitive version is fragrance-free which I prefer, but both are great options. This is a great moisturizer for oily skin year-round but may be slightly heavy in the summer if you are on the very oily side. This is one of those no-fuss oily skin moisturizers that will do you well and not overwhelm you.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
This First Aid Beauty cream is probably one of my favorite oily skin moisturizers year-round. While thicker, it still leaves the skin with a slightly matte finish. Calming and strengthening ingredients help support your skin from harsh ingredients and the environment.
I love that the company is clean and cruelty-free, and you get so much value for money. This is a fast-absorbing moisturizer perfect for oily and sensitive skin.

Good Light Moisturizer
The Good Light moisturizer, while a favorite, is the thickest of the oily skin moisturizers. I love using this one at night when I want to apply something to help my skin barrier. The brand is cruelty-free and uses clean ingredients as well which is amazing.
The ingredients are proven to provide amazing hydration and squalane aids in skin regeneration without leaving your skin greasy. While this is thicker, I don’t mind it. Instead, it provides the perfect velvety cushion to your skin and leaves your skin feeling smooth with a satin finish. I ran out of this one before I even had the chance to forget about it.
Oily Skin Moisturizers
I hope you found this list of oily skin moisturizers to be helpful! I have personally tested and tried each one of these moisturizers on my oily skin type and as a brown girl, I love these. While I love thicker moisturizers now, the lightweight formulas are still great for the summer months. Which ones have you tried?
