Just to be clear, this Fable and Mane review is not sponsored.
I’ve tried over 500 beauty products in the last decade. As a result, I have a good understanding of what works for my hair type. Plus, to be a conscious consumer, I’ve slowly switched all my beauty products to clean, sustainable brands.
I have medium-density hair that’s relatively fine, straight, and greasy. I usually blow dry it but that’s about it.
So which Fable and Mane products are worth your money? This Fable and Mane review includes some of their bestselling products.

HoliRoots Hair Oil Review
This hair oil is Fable and Mane’s hero product.
In all honestly, this product was just okay for me. The oil itself is nice, lightweight, and washes out easily. However, the formula is heavily scented and the key ingredients are lower on the list. Olive and Jojoba oil, along with a few other carrier oils, make up the majority of the formula.
Because of this, I’m not sure it’s worth the $38 price tag. I’d be happier paying for another hair oil or even making my own.
The HoliRoots hair oil is nice, but not life-changing.

SahaScalp™ Amla Soothing Serum Review
Amla is a star ingredient in hair oils and scalp treatments.
Off the bat, this soothing serum is preferred over the original HoliRoots hair oil. Amla oil and other key ingredients are listed higher, and overall, the product felt more effective. The product was easy to wash out but the dropper never took enough product.
Plus, the purple hue makes it more fun to use. This formula has a lighter scent and gives my itchy scalp some relief.
This Amla Soothing Serum was also a miss for me since I have other hair oils I enjoy more.

Moisturizing Volume Spray Review
The Fable and Mane Volume spray was one of the top pics for me.
This volume spray gives the roots a boost without feeling sticky or crunchy. The formula is incredibly lightweight and the bottle has a nice spray that covers your scalp. The fragrance is a bit strong but it’s a nice scent so I don’t mind it.
Overall, the volume spray is a win and provides volume without weighing my hair down.

Wild Ginger Purifying Scrub
I usually hate scalp scrubs.
The wild ginger purifying scrub surprised me. Usually, scalp scrubs are hard to spread, difficult to get directly onto the scalp, and pull at my hair. However, this scalp scrub creates a great lather that makes it easy to exfoliate your scalp. A little goes a long way in making your roots feel clean and bouncy.
The smell is wonderful and the salt doesn’t dissolve right away, giving you enough time to exfoliate. The benefits of the key ingredients are iffy since the products wash off, but the exfoliation is great.
If you want to try a scalp scrub, this is the one to try.

SahaScalp™ Cooling Scalp Mud Mask
Honestly, I bought the cooling scalp mud mask because it was on sale.
Fable and Mane markets this product as a facial for your scalp and that’s exactly what it is. Since my hair is greasy, and I wash it often, it gets irritated at times. Applying this mask to my scalp before the shower helps soothe the itchiness.
I prefer to use this as a prewash treatment rather than after shampooing so the mask doesn’t weigh my hair down. While not an essential hair care product by any means, your scalp is skin, and giving it a mask is beneficial.
If you have the time in your schedule or want a scalp pick-me-up, this is a nice product to try.

Detangling Leave-In Conditioner
I was on the search for a lightweight, detangling spray for my tangly, fine hair.
The Fable and Mane Detangler leave-in conditioner is exactly what I was looking for. Aside from the strong smell, it’s perfectly lightweight but moisturizing. It’s easy to brush out my hair after using this product without weighing down the strands.
I love the mist that sprays from the bottle. My better hair days always happen when I use this plus the volume spray.
Highly recommend this detangler spray, especially for the summer.

Scalp Massager Comb
While using your fingers to massage your scalp is the easiest tool, sometimes it’s nice to have something else.
The Fable and Mane comb was a pleasant surprise. It’s the perfect size to help massage your scalp and the teeth are slightly rounded. I love using this at the end of my hair-oiling routine for extra relaxation.
Again, by no means necessary, but I enjoy having it.
Fable and Mane Review
To start, I truly applaud Fable and Mane for bringing South Asian hair care traditions to the Western market.
I think it was a huge win, and their success opened many doors for other brands. I am a huge advocate for AAPI-founded brands and love trying them out. While some of Fable and Mane’s products didn’t work out, there were also some showstoppers.
If you’re interested in the brand, I say check them out and give them some support. You won’t be upset that you did. I have yet to try the Fable and Mane shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask so let me know if you’d be interested!
Plus, their packaging is so freaking cute!
With love,
Aditi
